Second TC Aftermath

The results are in, and our genius has been confirmed! And if that sounds a little hubristic, it's just because I'm celebrating right now.

Even though I didn't really have anything against either Fei or Greg - and actually liked Greg quite a bit - I'm very satisfied with the way things went down. The Vaishblahblah vote wasn't really a surprise, of course - that was going to work with or without Brenda's help. I'm mostly happy at how well the Shudra vote went down. Any number of things could have gone wrong with that. They could have split the vote. They could have voted without talking to each other and just one sent the wrong way would create a tie, at which point who went home could have been anybody's guess.

Ricky put a LOT of work into this, but honestly I think the clincher was this conversation I had with Greg this afternoon, and then disappeared so I couldn't be pinned down with questions:

So yeah, I think I deserve some props for helping to pull this off so flawlessly.

Now that the TC is done and results are posted, it's all about damage control... and Ricky got on that with abandon. He even went so far as to invite some people that got played into our alliance chat to explain things. Very good for him...

But I knew I was going to have to do some of my own damage control. Ricky set me up to be the villain of our pair, and him the hero. Good for him, he's doing it very well, but I need to diminish that somehow. Starting with talking to Joe and Jermainey.

I started just chatting with them individually, but quickly realized that I was repeating myself a lot, and that they were coming from the same place - they were concerned that they had no traction in the game anymore. I said to myself, "self?" I said. "This is stupid. Talk to both of them at once! Bring them into group call and get them both talking!"

I did, and at least as far as Jermainey is concerned, I mended some fences. But in the course of this past episode, I lied and broke a promise to Joe. That's still not sitting well with him, and I know he's still pissed about it. I gave him two aspirin and told him if he's still bothered by it in the morning to give me a call. We'll see... but if I don't hear from him, I'll initiate. I need him to not target me, because I really want to work with him later in the game. Ricky wants to target him, though, so if he doesn't get over it real soon.... he'll probably be next on the block.

And I need to find time to talk to Animal, Quanz and Zack. They could easily pull Joe and Jermainey in with them, and then there goes our advantage. I need to keep them apart... somehow....
