Above, you will find Jordon, walking the Red Carpet... Jordon is wearing a Phantom of the Opera mask with a joker-ish smile plastered on his face.
I had two ideas going into this challenge after CREEPING on Jordan's facebook, which was luckily public enough for me to get a good look at a portrait shot of him. 1.) a thinker looking out into the world. A lot of his pictures were straight on, looking at the camera, with no real emotion... kind of boring. So I went with #2, the theatrical approach. Originally, he was in front of a stage... but I did not like the way it overtook the picture, so I erased that and we arrived at the Red Carpet!
I picked this approach for two reasons... I thought I could have more fun with it, which would help me stand out from the rest and it would help me hid some of my own flaws. When you lack in one skill, you try to show another skill that you are better at to cast a shadow over your imperfections. I knew that I would not be able to draw a nose that looked like a nose... but after seeing Jordan was in theater and went to see Phantom of the Opera... I realized I had the perfect way to hid an imperfect nose; under the mask. Essentially what I did here is mimicked the way you can play Survivor. You may not be good at mental challenges but you put the emphasis on the physical challenges. You may not be good at swimming so you make sure people know you are good at starting fire. You hid one inability over a huge ability.
I also picked the Phantom of the Opera because it gives Jordan a mysterious feel... I don't know about other people but thats how I feel about him in the game. I am not sure where he is, alliance wise, strategy wise, any way wise!
Two big physical attributes I hit on were the color of his eyes... now, I may be colorblind, so don't judge me... but I thought his eyes came out very well in the cartoon... I also made sure to include his "skunk spots" that I saw on his facebook profile pictures... This is a part of who he is, so I had to include them! Being a photographer, I would have made sure to include those features in Jordan if he were in front of me asking for headshots.
As far as design process goes... I hated every minute of it... but in the end I think it was worth it. Many, many, many layers were used in the creation of this picture. I have a very shaky hand, I won't lie... so I would use the autoshapes and then erase parts of them or leave them whole, whatever I needed for that part of the design. I am familiar with photoshop...so once I was able to locate some of the tools that I use there, this challenge became rather easy and i regret bitching about it to anyone that would listen!
